Our Pricing and Strategy Analytics Internship will provide a hands-on experience in a challenging environment.  Qualified interns will experience different functions of our Actuarial, Pricing and Reserving department.  This career track is well suited for mathematics, economics and computer science majors, or those majoring in a related field emphasizing strong quantitative and analytical skills.


As an intern, you will apply data-mining, statistics, and modeling techniques to a myriad of types of data on a daily basis.  You will be responsible for looking creatively at business problems and working on long-term projects throughout the summer.  Towards the end of your internship, you will showcase your work to senior management.


During this paid 10-week summer internship based in Washington DC, you will:

•   Research creative ways to assess risk

•   Evaluate new sources of data for use in assessing insurance risk

•   Learn how GEICO collaborates with state insurance departments and regulators

•   Extract and analyze premium and loss data using computer and statistical programs

•   Evaluate data for reasonability and communicate observations to various teams to help achieve bottom-line goals

•   Evaluate current formulae and processes and programs, and recommend improvements

•   Currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in one of the following fields of study: Actuary, Information Sciences, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, Finance, or Data Analytics

•   Current junior status or will be a rising senior during Summer 2020 (i.e. graduating in December 2020 or May 2021)

•   Cumulative GPA of at least a 3.0 or higher

•   Excellent analytical, math, statistical, and data management skills

•   Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and some additional programming skills such as SQL and R

•   Excellent written and verbal communication skills

•   Ability to live and work in the Washington DC area this summer
