Paralegal I- Dallas, TX

GEICO is seeking additional experienced paralegals - one to work in GEICO's office near Fort Worth and two to work in GEICO’s regional building in Richardson. Please specify in your application which location one you desire.

Under general supervision, drafts routine legal documents, and handles multiple legal tasks to support the attorneys.

Essential Functions:
1. Drafts, reviews, and revises routine legal documents, including but not limited to Defendant's Responses to Written Discovery Requests(including coordinating completion, meeting with client and identifying defense file documents to be produced) and routine discovery motions.

2. Subpoena records and follow up on the receipt of same and send records to Defense experts for review.

3. Assist attorney in retaining Defense Experts and track deadlines for same. May include determining if deadlines are applicable for retaining experts; obtaining Affidavits from Expert and filing with the court per deadlines and Rules of Civil Procedure.

4. Supplement Defendant's Responses to Written Discovery and may included Designating Defense Experts and deadlines for same.

4. Coordinate/Schedule depositions of experts or important witnesses.

5. Identifies Plaintiff's Experts and calculates deadlines for responding to same.

6. Calls court for trial announcements. Assists with preparation of Trial Documents and Trial Preparation.

7. Maintains amicable relationships with other departments, courts, clients and third parties.

8. Adheres to the GEICO Code of Conduct, the GEICO Claims Code of Conduct, company policies and operating principles.

9. Meets attendance standard at business location to perform necessary job functions and to facilitate interaction with management and co-workers.

10.Meets the requirements specified below.

- Must be able to, with or without accommodation, perform the essential functions which include, but are not limited to seeing, hearing, typing and speaking.
- Work activities involve combinations of sitting, walking, kneeling, climbing, pulling, bending, lifting, carrying and standing for extended periods.
- Must be able to follow complex instructions, resolve conflicts or facilitate conflict resolution, and have strong organization/priority setting skills.
- Must be able to multi-task.
- Must be able to learn and apply large amounts of technical and procedural information.
- Must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Based on jurisdiction, may need to obtain and maintain a notary license.
- Must have the ability to type at least 50 words per minute.
- Must hold a Paralegal Certificate or degree in Paralegal Studies.
